2020 Commissions
Yes, yes it’s true - I’m opening my books for 2020! Life has changed A LOT since the last time I opened my books and I’m tweaking my commission practices to match. Read on to find out everything you’ll need to know before I open my books!
What’s Staying the Same
I’m still booking in advance and still scheduling the day my books open. Deposits will not be required to start work for most commissions and you don’t need to have a plan when you book - just a month (I recommend providing a back up, too). As before, these commission spots are only for a saddle and any accessories that go with it - if you want to mix and match a little, I’m not going to stop you. Smaller projects (halters, boot sets, etc) will be offered at the beginning of each month.
What’s Changing
Well, a lot. A lot is changing. So I’m going to break it down a little.
Booking
I’ll be accepting two commissions per month for January, February, and March. Because there are so few commissions available, I’m restricting spots to one per person. I hope to offer the same for April - June, but I need a test run first. I’ll also be using a web form this year to help streamline the process and make sure that vital information - like which month and your back up - don’t get left out.
Deposits & Time Payments
A deposit will now be required for time payments. Speaking of which, time payments will officially be available! They were quietly available if asked, but I’m making it a real thing now. The terms vary slightly from my normal time payment terms and are as follows:
Time payments will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Time payments are nonrefundable and will be kept track of via a PayPal invoice. Payments may begin as soon as the commission date and details are confirmed. The amount of each payment (after the deposit) and schedule are at the discretion of the client, but the balance must be paid off at the end of the month in which the commission is scheduled to be completed. A PayPal invoice will be sent and the 20% deposit is required within 48 hours of receipt.
So, tl;dr: if you want time payments, touch base early and have your deposit ready! If you need longer time payments, I strongly recommend that you aim for a later commission spot.
Reserve List
It doesn’t happen often, but every once in a while someone drops off the face of the earth or needs to cancel their commission spot. In 2020, I’m going to test a reserve list for those that tried and weren’t able to book a commission. Should a spot become available, it will be offered first come, first serve to the reserve list. There will be a box to tick on the booking form if you’d like to be included. Please keep in mind that these will be short notice commissions and time payments won’t be available.
Prices
I know, I know - we’d all hoped this day wouldn’t come, but my prices are going up ever so slightly in 2020. The base price for sets will be as follows:
Regular Stablemates (all plastics, many resins)
English: $165 | Western: $165 | Saddle seat: $170-185 | Costumes or specialty tack: per case
Large Stablemates (WeeJay, The Babysitter)
English: $180 | Western: $180 | Saddle seat: $185-200 | Costumes or specialty tack: per case
Curio (Mini Hazel, Mini Khemo)
English: $200 | Western: $200 | Saddle seat: $215-225 | Costumes or specialty tack: per case
At this time, I am not offering saddle commissions for Mini Anise, Paddock Pals/Little Bits, Pebbles, or Collecta models. You might be able to talk me into bridles or boots as part of a small project.
How This Works
My books will open for January, February, and March at 1 PM Central Standard Time December 12. An email will be sent out to everyone on the mailing list and a post will be made on the studio Facebook page and Instagram with a link to a form that will streamline the commission process (hopefully!). I’ll be available that afternoon to answer questions and will do my best to keep on top of the emails and booking.
Things can get hectic while booking is open, so if you have any questions or need a quote, I am MORE than happy to discuss that with you NOW. Drop me a line on the studio Facebook page or send me an email!
